Question by Lainy: need help with asthma problems?
we bought our ranch style home 4 years ago. before we moved in we had all the carpet replaced with new carpet. the apartment we lived in before we bought the house had hard wood floors. stupid me thought carpet was better.
now after living in our house for 4 years both of my kids and i are having very bad problems with wheezing, coughing, sneezing, and both kids are on inhalers. the doctor said is looks like that are allergic to the dust mites and it is making them asthmatic.
i can’t afford to replace my carpet is there some type of program that will help with the cost so i can replace the carpet with laminate wood flooring?
in the mean time i also have a bissell pro heat carpet cleaning machine and just last night i bought the bissell mutli allergen cleaning solution and today i am cleaning all of my carpets. after they dry i will wet dust my entire house. i bought the kids new pillows and special covers for the pillows and special covers for the mattress. i am doing all of the laundry and washing all of the bedding. what else can i do to help us breath better???

Question by Missy M: Help! I need your opinions!?
Okay so I know that this isn’t prego related, but I tend to be in this section a lot and figured I’d post it here and get your opinons though I’m pretty sure what I should do… So today at work I’m using the laminator and I had to grab some sheets from the opposite side of the table that is pushed against the wall. I see when I go to take some that they are still in the wrapper and figure instead of pulling just what i need out I’ll take the wrapper off. So as I’m doing this I feel something hit my butt… okay what the heck, well it’s this 60 y/o maintance man here and he was carrying a box. Okay maybe he accidently did this? then he says “I couldn’t help but notice you were bent over a bit and had to” Umm WTF??? So I barely can even comprehend what just happened, and he turns around and walks back to where I was and says “you’re probablly too old for spankings right?” confused me “Yea….” then he say “oh I thought girls were never too old for spankings” what would you do?

Question by srikseenappa: Need help stripping laminate flooring?
Pls answer my question ASAP.
My house is in a mess and I need to get it fixed ASAP.
I have hard wood laminate glued down in my foyer and kitchen.Area is a total of 450 sf.
I’m looking to replaace it with porcelain tiles as I have some water damage.
I have hired a contractor and he has no clue how to pull out the hard wood floor.
He tried chipping away the strips one by one. But it is an old hard wood floor and has been glued down real strong. Also the bottom portion of the wood strip breaks into individual square shaped ridges. So he tears of the top laminate first and then each 1″*1″ square piece has to be manually chipped. This is time consuming.
We rented a tile stripper machine from Lowes and that did not help either.
The contractor tells me that there is some machine that helps to do this pretty fast.
Do you know of any machine?
Do you suggest any different approach for stripping all the wood?
The contractor is from El Salvador and communication is a big hinderance.

Your best bet is to install a hardi backer board over the flooring which is a cement board product and then install your ceramic tile over that..It would take days and alot of elbow grease to remove 450sf of hardwood flooring that is glued down. The hardi backer board or sometimes called durok can be purchased anywhere they sell ceramic tile. It comes in 1/4″ thick or 1/2.. Hope this helps…

Question by peanut: Need Help!!!!!!!!!!!?
I am getting married in four months and I need help with my favors. I was going to make picture key chains. I have a laminating machine so i was going to use index cards or something and put a picture on one side our names and date on the other side and laminate it. I was going to leave room at the top to punch a hole in it to put the ring in it. Does that sound like a good idea? I need some suggestions. We are kinda tight on money also.
We are doing candy also but my parents already bought the keyrings and laminating machine. What if i use a picture of something that goes with the theme and maybe put our names and date on them. I have to use those keyrings for something.

Honestly for all the time that is going to take you I think people would just prefer little bags of candy.

Question by srgraham14: Small 2X2 patch in my foundation that I need to sand down. Is there any way besides renting a floor sander?
We are putting down laminate and this patch is about 1/4in higher than the rest of the floor. I hate to rent a huge machine for such a small spot. Is there anything like a grinder or dremel type tool that I can use instead?
Yes, it is a foundation not a basement

Use a floor sander. Is this a basement slab? I’m sure it isn’t a foundation.
