Question by MooCowMan: Do cheap desktop cold laminators from ebay do a decent job on banners?
I use a 24″ pigment inkjet printer for printing banners for my own auto repair shops. I usually print on matte polypropylene. We have several banners 24″ x 60″ that are alternated daily. They get stained from being handled by greasy hands. I’ve been considering a cheap desktop cold laminator from eBay for about 0 shipped. Does anyone have any experience with how well these work?

Question by J B: Can you machine laminated shim sheets (aluminum @1/8″ thk) with standard equipment, CNC mill, waterjet, drill.
any limitations? concerns?

Best answer:

Answer by beveridgio2002
Yes you can machine laminated shim sheets with standard equipment. The machined surfaces, however, will not be laminated after machining so if that is a requirement that is something you would need to consider. Apart from that go for it.

Question by Kayenath K: Can You open Laminated paper? Once it has been put through the laminator?

Best answer:

Answer by goddess_gould
It depends. Was there anything in it? Do you want to cut it? Can it get wet?

If there was something in it, you can cut close to it and then they edges will come apart. Soak it in water and then they will come off.

In scrapbooking we use this as a technique to make it appear like stained glass.

Hope this helps.
