A CD I ordered yesterday arrived this morning (excellent service!). Several CDs have arrived in the last week or so. All of them have been encased in this inpenetrable shrink-wrap. I can’t get the damn stuff off the CD. It has no tag to ease removal (in common with MOST such wrappings) and no way to remove it (without the danger of damaging the jewel case or booklet inside) other that desperately picking away at the edges of the shrink wrap in the vain hope that some of it might eventually come away. I know there is a special little ‘gizmo’ to cut it off, but that’s not the point – this is a case of ‘principal’.

I remember just a few years ago when (in the UK at least) CDs came unblemished by this plastic pestilence. Why is it there? CDs don’t ‘go off’ if not vacuum packed. The nasty jewel cases can still be marked and broken THROUGH the shrink wrap. And it doesn’t ensure it’s new either – shrink-wrap machines are cheap and easy to acquire.

So, I’ve given up on working out why it’s there at all. Help me on this.

And then there’s the jewel case itself. Don’t you just loathe them? The hinges snap if you look at them harshly and the CD-retaining splines on clear models break as if it were their job to do so. What is wrong with the (comparitively) sturdy, appropriately laminated Digipack?

Am I the only music lover driven insane by these things?

actually, what I find awful, is when the shrink wrap on CD and DVDs gets stuck to the cases. I must be obsessive compulsive because this stuff drives me absolutely insane.

not only that, those stupid security seals…they get “sticky” all over the cases. again obsessive, I could just cut them open, but I have to take them entirely off.

I have a dog that is not house broken, well he was, but he is very old now and have been having frequent accident. Sorry this is gross, but I pick up the mess after, some sticks to the floor and dried up…. I have been using industry kind of mop with yellow buckets and rope string kind of mop for years, using vinegar and water, some time use Bleach and water…. anyway, is this the BEST way to Mop the floor?

I was not impressed with Swift (spry) and Mop kind since you have to keep buying the solution bottle with strong chemical, etc.
What about Steam Vacuum machine?

swiffer wet jet baby, not only is it super easy but it’s better for your laminate floor which is just paper btw so you really don’t want to be soaking it with a traditional mop. do it.

What kind of shotgun do I have?

I first thought it was an antique but then noticed it said Machine Made on the right side of the handle. On the left side there is some lettering, but it’s too worn out to be legible. It’s a double-barrel 12 gauge. Dual triggers. It has a criss cross pattern on the handle. The barrel does not hinge down, it comes completly off and seprates off from the other piece. At the end of the barrel where the shells go in, on the bottom, it has some numbers and letters. It looks like “18.0″ and “BA” right next to it. It also has the letter E over the letters LG in an oval with a small crown on top. And a V with an A or a star over it. The inside of the barrel is smooth and does not have a “twist to it”. Further up the barrel on the bottom it has “V 0061″ and even further up it has “5343″. And I just noticed it looks like it may say “BELGIUM LAMINATED STEEL” on top of the barrel. I can’t really see it, but it’s an educated guess. That is as much info I can give because there really isn’t more.

Sounds like you have an Old/Antique Double Barrel 12 gauge Shotgun thats missing the Fore-end. If thats the case this fore-end would allow the shotgun to “break” open and then be loaded or unloaded..This Shotgun wasn’t designed to come apart into 2 pieces..it’s just missing parts.The “E” over LG markings with the Crown are PROOF MARKS.A picture would be a great help to identify what brand and make shotgun you may have……It could be English, Belgium or any number of other manufacturers, both foreign and domestic U.S. made…….

NOTE* The reference to “Belguim Laminated Steel” on the barrel refers to a manufacturing process that uses hammered steel rods to produce the steel barrel tubes..also referred to as Damascus type barrel making..Quite common
on older and antique shotguns.

My mother and family are very handy people. My mom went out of her way to help us install laminate flooring and backsplash in the kitchen. she took 2 days off from work to help us do the job properly and also showed my husband how to use the cutting machine for the backsplash. I was expecting that my husband will tell his parents that he completed theses two projects with the help of my mom and that there was lot of work involved. Instead he just said it that yeah WE did all the work in 2 days and didn’t mention anything to his parents that he was able to do all this because of my mom and her assistance. His mom now thinks that he did everything.and i am not happy with this because to me this is a lie. I hate when people doesn’t give credit to those people who have went out of their way to help them. I did talk to my husband about this and that his thing was that that there is already a friction in two families so why talk about it.

I don’t know what to do. please help

Let it go. Your Mom probably doesn’t care if she gets credit for the work or not. Don’t embarass your husband by telling that your Mom showed him how to do it correctly. Let him feel and act like the “man of the house.” Now make a list of the other things you want done around the house and get him started on those projects.

Looking for a round about estimate on how much it would cost someone to just come into the home and tear out the drywall, mouldings, carpet etc and just put in new dry wall w/ machine texture or small texture (have huge ugly texture now), new mouldings / basboards and maybe some carpet or laminate?

The home is older built 1955, I purchased the home as a foreclosure and have been living in it about a year and a half but everything looks sloppy and dirty as far as the moldings / baseboards, carpet, gaps and cracks in places, dirty a little bit so I just want to start with new stuff that I can keep clean etc.

Also thinking about remodeling the bathroom, it’s small so should be pretty easy, just new vanity, tile floor, tub and shower door and waynes coat etc. Maybe included with the other work.

Laminated wood is 3-4 buck a square feet. I’m guessing its ,200 for a small-medium area like a kitchen. about 400sq ft

This is my guess but get an estimation from a general contractor.
