Do You Have To Use The Same Brand Of Laminating Pouch As Laminator?
I own a Purple Cows laminator. Do I have to use the Purple Cows brand laminating pouches with this laminator or am I able to switch brands? I’ve noticed that the P.C. laminating pouches are slightly more expensive than, say, Scotch brand and I wouldn’t mind switching as long as it doesn’t harm my laminator.

Check the recommended temperature and thickness… I used larger laminators at two of my jobs and found that SOME non-matching brands might be too thin or thick and require adjusting the roller pressure, OR adjusting temperature (not all machines allow this).
If you’re doing a fair amount of laminating… ASK your supplier if you can get a small number of samples to TEST.
GOOD LUCK
The brand of laminating pouch does not matter. Thickness of pouch is going to be your biggest concern. You need to know your laminator’s maximum thickness and don’t use a pouch that is thicker than what your machine accepts. Also, if your machine does not have an adjustable temperature control, check the melting point information on the pouches. 1.5 mil pouches are the thinnest available but are so thin most machines won’t accept them because they just melt. Depending on what you are laminating and what your machine accepts, you will likely choose a 3 mil or 5 mil pouch…. any brand will do!
Nope, just be careful with very cheap ones (generally store-brand ones) because they sometimes don’t give the best results. Or just melt.
